    Job Responsibilities:

    Trace Systems is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer for our on-site team in Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

    The Engineering team creates compute and storage server designs for USINDOPACOM services. Our designs are secure, reliable and resilient and support USINDOPACOMS’s mission and its 5000+ customers throughout the Pacific theater. Our engineers solve challenging technical problems with architecturally-unique solutions that enable USINDOPACOM to realize critical C2 strategies. The team develops systems to ensure that every piece of server hardware in our catalog is healthy and manageable and builds software that interfaces with hundreds of cutting-edge embedded systems theater-wide. We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to build the next generation of our cloud platforms.

    • As a member of the Systems Engineering team you will provide technology leadership and own responsibility for leading the design and development of server products utilizing a wide range of design and manufacturing partners.
    • You will work closely with our mission partners to understand their operational objectives and help define technical product requirements.
    • You will interact with engineers and mission stakeholders across the DoD and work with an interdisciplinary team to execute design, test, certification and integration into final products and spearhead product deployments to datacenters around the world.
    • This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position, and you’ll work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas.

    Private cloud IT services represent the majority of growth in the overall IT services market and will continue to do so for several years to come. The scale of this contract, combined with an understanding of how our platform is used, creates a unique opportunity for platform customizations that will directly benefit mission partners. This contract has many unique services, both big and small, which power both large multinational coalition partners and smaller more niche partners. These services run on hardware around the world. We continually need to deploy newer, innovative, and more efficient and cost-effective hardware. Your work will drive efficiency and significant cost savings while improving the performance and reliability of our products and services. Your work will touch development teams and customers around the world.

    • You will work directly with engineers and product owners across the company to build and improve next-generation data center infrastructure.
    • You will have a direct impact on our mission success and the ability to deliver improvements for our mission partners.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 8+ years of experience in compute and storage server architecture and design for large scale applications within the last 10 years
    • An active in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance
    • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (or higher) compliant - CompTIA Security+ CE, CASP, or CISSP
    • Motivated self-starter and fast learner with the ability to work independently with very minimal supervision and guidance to accomplish tasks in a timely manner
    • Experience taking products from concepts to mass production
    • Experience with technical project management
    • Willingness and ability to ingest new technologies at blazing speed
    • Ability to prioritize multiple assigned tasks and execute parallel tasks in a high-pressure environment
    • Ability to find, implement and use a variety of open source or commercial technologies and tools
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Strong organizational and planning skills

    Technical Requirements:

    • Expert level knowledge with VMware products (vCenter Server, ESXi, etc.)
    • Expertise in both Windows and Linux (RHEL/CentOS) environments
    • Experience with Microsoft enterprise services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy management)
    • Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure technologies (VMware Horizon View)
    • Working knowledge of Datacenter hardware and software installations, upgrades, migrations, and OS/Firmware patching.
    • Knowledge of Hyper-Converged Infrastructure technologies (Nutanix/Cisco Hyperflex) is a plus
    • Working Knowledge/Understanding in the networking area (Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, F5)
    • Basic knowledge of supporting SQL databases

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
    • 8+ years of experience in hardware system architecture design
    • Industry certifications (MCSA, MCSE, VCA, VCP, RHCSA, RHCE, CCNA, CCNP)
    • Familiarity with scripting or programming languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python, .NET, C#, Java)
    • Experience with server validation and conducting root cause analysis
    • Extensive knowledge of data center infrastructure constraints to include but not limited to networking, power, space, and cooling
    • Developing functional specifications, hardware architecture specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
    • Demonstrated commitment to rigorous testing practices and design process flows
    • Demonstrated ability to engage technology developers in the industry to track and apply emerging technologies to innovative server designs

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
    • 8+ years of experience in compute and storage server architecture and design for large scale applications within the last 10 years
