Jobing Description
Responsibilities
* Daily management of site computer systems such as user administration, backup and user account management. Enforce server and workstation configuration standards.
* Administer primarily Unix, Linux, and storage systems with a lesser role administering Microsoft Windows servers supporting Intranet, Internet, email, and application services.
* Implement concepts related to authentication and file system accessibility for those protocols relating to NIS, CIFS, LDAP, NFS, AUTOMOUNTER, etc.
* Implement and support UNIX virtualization technologies for Solaris containers/zones and Logical Domains (LDOM's)
* Implement and support Sun's Zetabyte File System (ZFS)
* Implement and support Citrix related Unix presentation services
* Employ and support virtual servers running VMWare (i.e., ESX and virtual server implementation with VMWare technologies)
* Plan and coordinate server support and upgrade activities with other internal/external organization entities and commercial vendor support as required
* Ensure computer servers and workstations operate at optimal performance and capacity.
* Monitor all networks using network management software (e.g., HP Open View, BigBrother)
* Install, load, and configure computer servers of all kinds
* Troubleshoot server failures and accessibility problems
* Monitor system performance and track usage
* Develop and deliver a trend analysis of system load, usage and response.
* Perform server upgrades and migration to new server-level software
* Perform system security functions (including system security plans)
* Perform Low level system engineering and integration functions
* Ensure backup/recovery strategies are planned and implemented successfully
* Help train other information technology professionals

Qualifications
* For Level III:
* Entry is with a high school diploma and 3 years of experience, or an Associate's degree and 2 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree.
* Degree must be in a computer science-related field or technical/vocational training certificate.
* Experience may include system administration, IT support, IT management, database administration or application administration, web programming, and/or using or administering operating systems
* At least five years experience in the System Administration field with emphasis on Unix, Linux, and enterprise SAN/NAS storage server-level experience.
o At least two years experience in system administration in a virtualized computing environment, specifically with VMWare administration and with UNIX virtualization technologies for Solaris containers/zones and Logical Domains (LDOM's)
o At least two years experience in system administration of database systems, Microsoft Exchange Messaging system, Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 servers, Windows XP or Vista desktop support
* Ability to liaison with local, deployed, and CONUS information technology personnel and DOD information technology work centers
* Security+ or CISSP certification
* One of the following certifications:
o Sun Certified System Administrator for Solaris Operating Environment
o Sun Certified Network Administrator for Solaris Operating Environment
* Fluent in the English Language

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
Salary range: $42,209 to $67,114
