* Temporary, non-tenure track, to teach in Fall 2012 and/or Spring 2013, contingent on course offerings, enrollment and pending availability of funds.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. HON 101: Teach "Introduction to Research and Creative Work at Manoa," a freshmen foundation course with workshops and hands-on experience in small group projects, including bibliographic searches, laboratory science, social surveys and interviews.
2. HON 291: Teach "Sophomore Seminar," course specially created by Manoa faculty for sophomores and first-year Honors students which provides a bridge between HON 101 and the more formal research and inquiry-based courses, HON 495 and HON 496.
3. HON 301: Teach "Public Policy-Making," address issues of ethical principle or public policy by finding resources.
4. HON 303: Teach "Civic Engagement, Volunteerism & Community Service," teach history and theory of volunteerism and conduct field service activities.
5. HON 380: Teach "Peer Mentoring," teach the dynamics of leadership skills and mentorship within the context of small groups.
6. HON 491: Teach "Junior Seminar," a project-based experimental learning involving community-based research or creative work, focus on project design, practical skills, and teamwork.
7. HON 495: Teach "Introduction to Research" for juniors and seniors, teach library research skills, scholarship of research and creative work, methodological issues and ethical issues, development of individual proposal and prospectus for Senior Honors Project.

Minimum Qualifications

1. HON 101: PhD (or ABD), teaching experience at the university level.
2. HON 291: PhD or equivalent in social science or humanities, experience in field research on the city of Honolulu and/or its neighborhoods; experience in field work and leading field trips; teaching experience at the university level.
3. HON 301: MA in social sciences or equivalent in law or other related fields; work experience in public policy-making or public administration; teaching experience at the university level.
4. HON 303: MA in Political Science, Social Work or other related fields; advocacy experience with diverse social groups; experience in volunteer management, supervision and program development; teaching experience at the university level.
5. HON 380: MA in social sciences or humanities, experience in leadership and as peer mentor; teaching experience at the university level.
6. HON 491 and HON 495: PhD or equivalent in social sciences and humanities; experience in library research skills and scholarly resources, oral and poster presentations; teaching experience at the university level.

Desirable Qualifications

1. Experience with collaborative learning techniques and team-teaching.
2. Experience with Hawaii politics or non-profit sector.
3. Experience in curriculum development and community work in Hawaii.
4. Experience in research methods and creative projects.
