Duties and Responsibilities
1. Under the direction of Kokua a Puni staff, assists the Counseling Coordinator with research, development, planning and implementation of career, wellness, and counseling programs, including workshop and event planning, advertising and marketing; administrative tasks related to academic, career, and wellness counseling, case management and referrals; gathering of program performance data, literature reviews; report/grant writing; development and up-keep of Kokua a Puni web and social networking sites; conduct informational sessions on program services; attend outreach and other events; other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
1. B.A. in Hawaiian Studies, Hawaiian Language, or related field such as Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or Education; strong organizational, writing, and communication skills; admitted full-time at the University of Hawaii Graduate Division in a graduate degree program for Fall 2011 and throughout the appointment period; demonstrated ability to collaborate and to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff and students; ability to work independently and reliably and within a team; be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above. Must be available summer, evenings, and weekends when necessary and have a valid driver s license.
Desirable Qualifications
1. Prior work experience on a University of Hawaii campus; experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, iMovie, Photoshop, Pages, and developing and maintaining websites and social networking sites; knowledge/experience in the Hawaiian language and culture; experience in marketing/advertising; experience in student programming; experience in designing flyers, pamphlets, and other student-focused outreach material; outreach to Native Hawaiian students, organizations, and communities; knowledge of financial aid and scholarship programs processes for Native Hawaiian students.
