Job Description
The First CommandTM Financial Planning Intern Program provides college students majoring in financial planning, finance, business or a related area of study the opportunity to fulfill college degree requirements as they learn first-hand about the financial planning profession and financial services industry.
Through the program, interns can observe financial planning professionals at work and:
Deepen their understanding of the financial services industry and the financial planning profession
Learn how an individual financial planning/financial services business operates
Discover what knowledge and skills are required for an entry-level financial planner
Gain an understanding of the administrative and compliance requirements of the profession
Increase knowledge, enhance skills and develop professional goals
Complete a special project to gain insight into a specific facet of the industry or business operations

Required Skills
The Summer Program This is a traditional program designed for the intern to be employed in a field office. The program lasts for 9 weeks during the summer, starting on or about June 4th and ending on or about August 3rd and consists of no more than 360 work hours. There are three criteria for eligibility;
* Student is currently enrolled as a full time student in an accredited college in pursuit of their Bachelors or Masters degree. We will accept students within one year of a degree attainment from their first day of internship.
* Overall GPA of at least 3.0 on a scale of 4.
* Declared a major in financial planning, business, economics, accounting, finance, marketing or a related area.
The Extended Program The second element has the same intern requirements as the Summer Program. However, the duration of this program is for 9 weeks, or 360 hours of employment, and can be spread over one year.
