Job Description

Director, Quality Improvement and Health Equity - Hawaii (Part-time) Join the American Heart Association and take your career on a Mission - to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. In this unique role, the Director of Quality Improvement and Health Equity promotes healthier lives through developing and implementing a comprehensive plan to improve access to education, quality care and community resources. Essential outcomes include:

* Recruitment and engagement of community and corporate volunteers to champion improving the cardiovascular health of all Americans
* Integration of health equity strategies with a focus on advocacy, health care quality, development and communications to achieve the AHA's health impact goals
* Strong partnerships with hospitals, public agencies and other key stakeholders to achieve shared goals
* Implementation of hospital-based quality improvement programs to achieve program goals in Get With The Guidelines modules
* Engagement of medical community with Get With The Guidelines through workshops, teleconferences, effective consultation and resources
* Development and implementation of a regional health equity plan designed to eliminate health disparities, improve cultural competency and increase access to education and resources

Required Skills

* Demonstrated strengths in volunteer management including developing strategies for recruiting, mobilizing, managing, recognizing and developing community and corporate volunteers.
* Demonstrated collaboration skills in building effective internal and external partnerships including with sponsors, state and local health agencies, community and state leaders, and community organizations

Required Experience

* At least 3 years professional experience in healthcare quality improvement, minority public health education and community health issues with a proven track record in leading initiatives across multiple acculturation levels and socio-economic groups through strong volunteer activation.
* Bachelor's degree in healthcare or a related field with demonstrated knowledge of community engagement strategies, healthcare quality initiatives and volunteer management.

This position requires substantial local travel and infrequent overnight travel. Valid driver's license, proof of required automobile liability insurance and ability and willingness to travel as the position requires. Employment offers are contingent upon a satisfactory background check including pre-employment credit history, motor vehicle and criminal records.
