Job Description
Responsible for fleet department, customer service, safety, and sales related duties as needed. To devise, implement and ensure a cost effective distribution network system that will achieve customer satisfaction and ensure product integrity that will enhance profits. Communicating all sales and operations activity to immediate manager is critical. Includes the distribution of refrigerated and frozen products throughout Kona and West Side of the Big Island. Target areas of management overtime, dumps, sales, customer satisfaction, safety, and distribution cost. Comply with all policies and procedures set forth by Meadow Gold Dairies and parent organization Dean Foods.
Job Requirements
1. Oversee daily function of the Distribution Department in the most cost efficient way that is synchronized with policies and procedures of Meadow Gold and Dean Foods.
- Work with production personnel to balance supply of products with route demands and production facility to all branches and customers.
- Coordinate interdepartmental needs/problem resolution.
- Direct and assist supervision to problems Route/driver/customer relations to ensure cost efficiency.
2. Control and monitor the effectiveness of the local route systems employed.
3. Reviews with manager phases of the total movement of products, overtime per route. Take corrective steps when warranted.
4. Devise, implement and monitor policies and programs to ensure the best possible service and responsiveness to customer needs/demands and motivate employees to meet company and departmental goals.
5. Plans and assigns work for most efficient use of distribution and transportation personnel and equipment.
6. Insures that Division or Branch is in total compliance with all State and DOT rules and regulations, including but not limited to: Driver Qualification Program, Drug testing, hours of service, accident recording, and safety program.
7. Responsible for safety programs within the distribution and transportation areas, which includes training of route drivers, fleet maintenance and shipping department supervisors and employees.
8. Prepares and participates in achieving the budget process for the division or branch consistent with future demands and operations.
9. Oversee daily function of the Fleet/Transportation Department in the most cost efficient way.
- Control and monitor cost of pars inventory
- Establish and plan a preventive maintenance system to avoid fleet break-down
-Monitor overtime for cost efficiency
10. Develop route logistical analysis and implement plans
11. Coordinate route restructuring as needed, with sales staff and customers
12. Coordinate required safety and regulatory compliance programs and procedures
