To begin August 1, 2011, pending position clearance and availability of funds.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. The faculty member will teach design with an emphasis on landscape architecture in
2. upper division and graduate level design studios within the School of Architecture.
3. Duties also include teaching required and/or elective courses focusing on the integration
4. of architecture, landscape and issues of sustainability in Hawai i, the tropics and
5. the Asia/Pacific region.
6. The successful candidate will expand the curriculum to reinforce
7. the recently adopted strategic plan of the School which includes both a significant
8. environmental focus and a multidisciplinary approach to the program.
9. The faculty
10. member will develop and conduct research and nurture collaborative relationships with
11. local, national and international practitioners and scholars, supervise graduate students,
12. and participate in departmental, university, and professional activities.

Minimum Qualifications

1. An accredited professional degree in
2. architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, and/or b) distinctive practice record with
3. a professional license or expectation to be licensed; and/or c) PhD degree (or equivalent)
4. in an area of specialization underpinned by a significant record of research and publication

Desirable Qualifications

1. Preferred candidate will have a professional degree in Architecture or Landscape
2. Architecture from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalent with a license
3. to practice (or in progress) and experience in one or more of the following areas:
4. natural resource management, land use management, environmental design, history
5. and theory of world landscape design.
6. The candidate should have proven design ability evident in peer-reviewed publications or built work.
