To begin August 1, 2011, pending position clearance and availability of funds.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. The faculty member will teach both design studio at various levels of the program and
2. also required and elective courses.
3. Expertise brought to the program will include
4. knowledge of human behavior and societal roles relating to cultural diversity and
5. indigenous values.
6. The faculty should also be able to teach advanced architectural
7. design studios that examine the interface of cultural and environmental issues.
8. The faculty member will develop and conduct research in a teaching area of relevant
9. interest and nurture collaborative relationships with local, national and international
10. practitioners and scholars, supervise graduate students, and participate in
11. departmental, university, and professional activities.

Minimum Qualifications

1. an accredited professional degree in
2. architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, and/or b) distinctive practice record with
3. a professional license or expectation to be licensed; and/or c) PhD degree (or equivalent)
4. in an area of specialization underpinned by a significant record of research and publication.

Desirable Qualifications

1. Preferred candidate is expected to have a Ph.D. in Architecture, Pacific Island Studies,
2. Cultural Studies, Geography, or a closely related field from an accredited college,
3. university or foreign equivalent [ABD will be considered] or a post professional degree
4. in Architecture.
5. Experience in one or more of the following areas of architecture and
6. planning is desirable: natural resource management, land use management,
7. environmental design.
