Duties and Responsibilities
1. Conduct research in bacterial physiology, genetics, and/or bacterial-host interactions with a focus on molecular aspects of medically relevant bacteria, or related. Although not essential, research with BSL-3 bacteria is a plus to complement existing infectious disease research within the department.
2. Teach undergraduate courses in Microbiology.
3. Teach graduate courses related to area of speciality.
4. Perform other tasks as assigned.
Assistant Professor Minimum Qualifications
1. Ph.D in Microbiology or related field from a college or university of recognized standing.
2. Demonstrated ability as a teacher.
3. Demonstrated scholarly acheivement.
4. Poise and good address for meeting and conferring with others.
Associate Professor Minimum Qualifications
1. Same as Assistant, plus a minimum of four years of full-time college or university teaching at the rank of Assistant Professor or equivalent, with evidence of increasing maturity.
2. Publication record commensurate with the rank.
3. Demonstrated ability to plan and organize assigned activities, including the supervision of work of assistants when appropriate.
4. Ability to serve as a role model for students and junior colleagues.
Professor Minimum Qualifications
1. Same as Associate, plus a minimum of four years of full-time college or university teaching at the rank of Associate Professor or equivalent, with evidence of increasing professional maturity.
2. Research productivity which has resulted in significant recognition by the national or international community.
3. Demonstrated capacity of leadership in the department and scholarly discipline.
Assistant Professor Desirable Qualifications
1. Post-doctoral experience.

1. Senior level candidates are expected to have current funding for their research.
